Every month we send some of your biggest questions about nutrition, health and more to our panel of experts. The question: "My doctor said that I had a heart murmur, does it really affect my life in any way? was answered by N.A. Mark Estes, MD, director, New England Cardiac Arrhythmia Center in Boston.
In most cases, no! Having a whisper means that a sound can be heard while blood is flowing through your heart. The reason may be that your chest muscles are relatively thin or that one of your valves is close to your chest wall. Both are normal and whispers often disappear over time.
