Engagement photos are quite stressful – after all, you want to convey the fact that you are radiant and happy, while always showing you the best possible. So, no pressure. But a woman has used her engagement photos to report a health problem she's suffering from, and the results are quite powerful.
Makenzee Meaux suffers from a disease known as alopecia universalis, a condition that caused her hair follicles to stop growing when she was eight years old. Doctors do not know exactly why she has developed alopecia or how to bring back her hair. She normally wears a wig, but she decided to abandon her during her engagement photos with her fiance Bryan.
Makenzee tells Women's Health that she felt a "huge relief" when she removed her wig. "I felt very excited to fully accept and embrace my true self," she says. "It was a long time since I came and I was very happy to have decided to step out of my comfort zone."
She shared the wonderful results on Facebook, and the photos quickly became viral. "By taking our engagement photos, I decided that it was time to stop hiding from the only thing I tried to hide for nearly 15 years," writes she
